Photo Protection
PicPeak includes an advanced download protection system to help prevent unauthorized use of photos.
Protection layers
Canvas rendering
Instead of serving images as standard <img> elements, PicPeak can render photos using HTML5 Canvas. This makes it harder to save images via right-click or browser extensions.
Right-click prevention
When enabled, right-click context menus are disabled on gallery pages, preventing the standard “Save image as” option.
Invisible watermarking
PicPeak can apply invisible watermarks to gallery images. These watermarks are imperceptible to viewers but can be detected if images are redistributed without authorization.
DevTools detection
The protection system detects when browser developer tools are open and can take action (such as displaying a warning or hiding content) to prevent image extraction through the browser inspector.
Configuration
Photo protection settings are configured per-event from the admin panel. You can enable or disable individual protection layers depending on the client and event requirements.
Important notes
No client-side protection is foolproof --- a determined user can always capture screen content. These features raise the barrier for casual downloading and demonstrate professional image handling to clients.
For stronger protection, consider using visible watermarks on preview images and delivering full-resolution files only through controlled download channels.
